I know "Beach Party", "Muscle Beach Party" and "Gidget" backwards, forwards, sideways, standing on one foot, speaking in Spanish and I would love to "do" one of them. I'm just not sure what I'd have to do. Could you break it down for me?
ReplyDeleteAny would be fine, take your pick. Me, I was thinking about doing Pajama Party.
ReplyDeleteAlright then. I'll take "Muscle Beach Party". Haven't written under a deadline for awhile! Pressure.
DeleteThat sounds good. By the way, I noticed that there is a book coming out from Micheal Dormer, the artist who did the illustrations in the credits of Muscle Beach Party. It's out August 29. Details are up on Amazon:
Deletehttps://www.amazon.com/Michael-Dormer-Legend-Hot-Curl/dp/1683960173/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495725882&sr=8-1&keywords=Michael+Dormer
Hey, yeah! Just reading about this guy. Thanks.
DeleteCould I write about The End of Summer (1961)? My blog is Cinematic Scribblings: https://cinematicscribblings.wordpress.com/ Thank you!
ReplyDeleteSure, I hadn't even heard of it, until I googled it just now. It sounds really good. I look forward to it. I'm psyched. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteUsing the summer blockbuster allowance, I'd like to take advantage of the availability of Ghostbusters and GhostbustersII, if that's OK. (I'll leave out that crappy remake... unless I make a reference to it as a crappy remake, that is.)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds good. I look forward to it and will add you to the list.
ReplyDeleteJust wondering. Is this an acceptance to my submission? Because I'm still not on the list above...
DeleteHi, sorry for the oversight. Yes, that is accept. I added it today.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteOkay, I actually added part of it yesterday, but somehow managed to not get it right. I fixed it today. All is good. Thanks for your patience.
DeleteI'll take Raiders.
ReplyDeleteSounds good.
ReplyDeleteOooh...can I join please? I'd like to do The Way Way Back (2013) if that's ok?
ReplyDeletehttp://thoughtsallsorts.wordpress.com/
Hi, That sounds really good. I love it. I don't think I've seen it, and I love Steve Carell. I'll have to look for it. Welcome aboard.
ReplyDeleteChris
It is a wonderful movie. Sam Rockwell rocks in it ;-)
DeletePS: Not sure how well comments go back and forth between BlogSpot and Wordpress but to let you know that I'm excited that you joined my Colours Blogathon and have you down - and you're more than welcome to add some of those choices you had to throw out in the narrowing down process - the more the merrier ;-)
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.
DeleteCan I take "Roman Holiday" please?
ReplyDeleteMy blog: In The Good Old Days Of Classic Hollywood
That would be awesome. I'll put you down for that. Thanks,
ReplyDeleteChris
Hi there, could I cover "Fatty and Mabel at the San Diego Exposition" from 1915? It was shot at the Panama-California Exposition in San Diego, which included numerous amusements, including electric wicker couches on wheels. Fatty and Mabel play a vacationing couple who get into all sorts of mischief related to these amusements, including a "shocking" hula performance. Will this work? My blog is moviessilently.com
ReplyDeleteHi Fritzi, That would be awesome. They just celebrated the centennial of the Expo, and you can now rent a reproduction of those to drive through Balboa Park. Basically a wicker golf cart, but still pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI just did that in January. :-D As you say, modern but still fun to play Mabel Normand.
ReplyDeleteYou in SD or just visiting?
ReplyDeleteJust visiting. I like to take in the silent film locations wherever I go.
DeleteCool.
DeleteHello! Could I take The Parent Trap 1961?
ReplyDeleteThanks! My blog is Anybody Got a Match? (anybodygotamatch.wordpress.com)
Sounds good, I'll add you. Welcome aboard.
DeleteChris

Sure, that's great. I take it you're doing three separate posts or are you going to do one post on all three films? Please let me know. Thanks, Chris
Delete3 posts of course

Great, I just updated the links. I will read and promote as I get time.
DeleteI have a list a mile wide I'm surprised have been taken yet (none of which I'm applying for, BTW. I'm sticking with the two Ghostbusters flicks; already have most of it written...) Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Batman, Jurassic Park, Men in Black (I considered the MiB trilogy before I Settled on the Ghostbusters choice). I hope a few of these get chosen... Obviously I have an affinity for the summer blockbuster aspect of the blogathon...
ReplyDeleteI often use blogathons as an excuse to write about movies I've been wanting to cover. Last year, I did a post on Ghostbusters for a Movie Scientist Blogathon, mostly because I knew I probably never get to it otherwise:
Deletehttp://chrissturhann.blogspot.com/2016/02/movie-scientist-blogathon-ghostbusters.html
I would love to write on Preston Sturges' Christmas in July (1940). My blog is double--exposures.blogspot.com, although I haven't posted anything on it yet.
ReplyDeleteNoah, I love Preston Sturges. I'm looking forward to your post.
DeleteHi, I got your comment! My review of Christmas in July is scheduled to be published at noon tomorrow (EST). I'll link the review tomorrow after it's published.

Got it, just updated a minute ago. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi Chris,
ReplyDeleteSo I unfortunately don't think I'll be able to write my post today. I am moving from Newfoundland to Ontario this week, and I am swamped! I overestimated how I could allocate my time, as I often do! The movie I am going to write about is four hours long, and I don't think I can write that today. However, when I do (hopefully some time this week), I will link it back to your blogathon.
Thanks so much for understanding. I look forward to reading the other posts when I can!
Charlene
Hi Charlene, No problem. Life happens. Just let me knew. Best of luck with the move.

ReplyDeleteGreat! I'll add your banner and link to the post :)
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteCONGRATULATIONS CHRIS! Congrats on getting off another great idea for a blogathon. Wish I could've participated, but I came up empty in anything that caught my interest. Hopefully your next one. Again…congratulations.
ReplyDeleteCineMaven.
Thanks. It came off well, especially since it only came together with a little over a month lead time. Looking forward to your 'Til Death Do Us Part Blogathon. Chris
